Disc Golfers,
I (George Alvarez) attended the Park Summit this morning and was very impressed with the county and city support for growth or parks and recreation. I was able to meet county officials to push our growth and awareness of Disc Golf and help us push the new courses in the parks. I met with Mayor Carlos Alvarez and he is now aware of the sport and wants to meet to discuss these plans with the county parks and possibly help us with private sponsorships.
There will be some new changes coming from the county down to our parks for Kendall Indian Hammocks to Amelia and once I am certain that some of these steps will take place, I will inform our entire group. Some of these changes will be in our benefit and some may not be. But, as you may know I have a passion for the sport and the progress of the club. So, I will be looking out for our best interest while I am meeting with some of these officials. Please keep in mind, these parks are not our properties, so we have to work together to keep what we have and build from there on.
Please pick up trash when you can and see it on the grown. Don't destroy trees or plants in your path, the county parks will and can arrest violators for these acts. Go enjoy the fresh air, great courses and friendships we have built throughout these years guys. Also, extra activities around the kiosk and tables are not permitted. We have a new park Manager- Eddie Martinez and he is more of a hardcore stickler to rules. So you and the club does not have problems, please take that in the woods or away from the gathering spot for the golfers. Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
Regards,
George
